Barn Updates

Projects On-going

We are constantly striving to do updates to the barn. Our plans during the January-February break were to finally install a raised stage and locate it where it works best. That installation of the new stage started on Wed., January 22, 2020. The project is basically done. This picture was taken on January 30, 2020, the end of day 9. In March of 2021 we expanded the dance floor by 32 sq.ft. to accommodate more dancers and to help with social distancing during the pandemic period.

We relocated the stage to have better visual contact with the audience. Before now we were at floor level and when the dance floor was full half the folks couldn't see the band. With this new setup we will be more visible.

We put up a post and rail fence with wagon wheels to coincide with our "traditional country" theme. This picture shows the project basically finished.

In March 2021 we removed some tables from the hall to maintain a better social distancing during this pandemic period. As of May 2021 we limited attendance to 50% of barn capacity (or 50 people.) However, with changes in state guidelines we lifted the capacity restrictions. Z Barn has a table seating capacity of 85.

The stage is basically done with all instruments and sound equipment on stage and speakers and wires relocated. Thursday, Jan. 30 the bar area is also complete.

For the hot summer weather,

Z Barn installed 2 window

air conditioners and a dehumidifier in 2020. In July of 2021 we added a third and fourth air conditioner.

PICNIC GROVE

In 2020 we finished clearing the wooded area and put in a large picnic grove with tables/chairs, lounge chairs and firepits. We also seeded for grass and have stacked wood ready to burn for the firepits. Additional parking is available during barn dances on this back lawn to the barn.

STAIRWAY PROJECT

We built a large set of stairs with 4 7-step sections, 3 small platforms and one large platform with a seating bench. The stairs lead from the top (road level) to the bottom level behind the barn and adjacent to the picnic grove.

Our picnic grove as 2 firepits and plenty of seating for relaxing and a few lawn games. We strive to maintain this area for the additional comfort of our attendees.

Summer Screened Bay Door

OUTSIDE VIEW

On June 26, 2021 we installed our screens into the bay door opening for warmer weather enjoNyment. This is the outside view of the screened area. In July of 2021 we added plexiglass to the screens to allow the area to remain open for the view and lighting. This will allow us to run the air conditioners when needed during the summer months. Our schedule is to remove the plexiglass for our September and October barn dances to enjoy the crisp autumn air. We'll re-install the plexiglass for our November and December barn dances (and any activites during the winter months. We'll again remove the plexiglass for our April and May barn dances. Then the cycles continues to add the plexiglass for the summer months, etc.

Summer Screened Bay Door

INSIDE VIEW

We're pleased with the results of the new screened bay door opening. It will be a welcomed addition on the warm summer nights from both an air and view perspective.

In July, 2021 we also purchased 30 more padded chairs and 14 cafe sized tables to replace larger round tables and any folding chairs for more spacing and comfort.
