Event Notes

2020 and 2021

JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 NOTES:  Normally, Z-Barn doesn't run barn dances in January and February because of the unpredictable long-range winter weather conditions. However, we had a Valentine Barn Dance on Sat., Feb. 15, 2020 because we were able to get our new stage done earlier than expected.  It was a large turnout with great dishes-to-pass for the buffet and plenty of traditional country music and dancing.

MARCH NOTES:  Unfortunately, we had to cancel our March through May barn dances to do our part to try and control this dreaded virus that has surfaced.  We resumed our barn dances with limited 50% capacity in June of 2020 with suggested guidelines for face masks and 6-foot social distancing.  Surfaces are wiped clean with disinfectant and new table cloths are used at each barn dance.  The dish-to-pass buffet has been temporarily cancelled and folks bring their own snacks.  We suggest that anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms or fever or who have been near an infected person or persons to please not attend for the safety of others.

Just 2 of us from the Cannonball Express house band were performing country songs on Monday nights from 6 to 7 PM with vocals, piano and bass.  These shows went very well with many folks tuning in on Gloria Zink's facebook page to view the shows.  We hoped in some small way we were able to help folks pass the time during this hibernation period.  Gloria and I were making use of Z Barn during this pandemic period with our "Corona Shows" but moved them to our dining room and then our basement for a more-powerful signal on facebook. If you get a chance, catch us on Monday nights from 6 to 7PM starting again in the autumn of 2021 for our traditional country music.

As the coronovirus continues, bluegrass festivals were cancelled for the 2020 season and some during 2021.  Some festivals took place during the summer and autumn of 2021.

JUNE - OCTOBER 2020 NOTES:  We resumed barn dances starting in June and followed state guidelines for attendance numbers, masks, social distancing, etc.  Our June turnout was approx. 35  - July - 40  -  August - 45  -  September - 50  -  October 50 (established limit.) We ask attendees to use common sense when encountering other people as far as use of masks and social distancing.    All has worked extremely well without incident and folks are enjoying these few hours each month.

NOVEMBER 2020 NOTES:  Z Barn had cancelled events for Nov./Dec. 2020 and Jan., Feb, and March of 2021 (due to spikes in the Covid pandemic in Nov. 2020.)

APRIL-DECEMBER 2021 NOTES: We resumed barn dances in April of 2021 within state of New York guidelines at the time*. We'll keep you informed through this internet Z-Barn site and our newsletter each month...thanks for your support and friendship it means a lot to all of us at Z Barn.

(*With limited attendance of 50% (or 50 people.)  Masks and social distancing were encouraged when not seated at your table.  Hopefully, as more folks are vaccinated, these restrictions are being lifted this summer and we'll be able to return to more normalcy by autumn.)

We've had 9 barn dances through December without incident and had our final 2021 barn dance for the year on December 11, 2021*.  We plan to re-start in March of 2022 (Weather and Pandemic restrictions dependent.) Throughout 2021 Z Barn maintained nearly 100% of attendees with vaccinations and booster shots with zero incidents.

*The escalating cost of heating fuel is forcing our winter closure this winter season during January and February.

Our 2022 barn dances started on Saturday, March 26 from 6 to 9 PM. So far we've had 8 barn dances in 2022. Our next dance is Saturday, November 19 from 6 to 9PM.  Because of bad weather, we cancelled our December barn dance and re-started after the winter on March 11, 2023.
